ALDERNEY WEEK 2007 SHOW STOPPERS

Every year, Alderney Week can rely on brilliant performers who just pull it off. And you can look forward to great entertainment this year, when we celebrate our 60th anniversary of Alderney Week.  Meanwhile, here’s the list of last year’s Show Stoppers, when Hollywood came to Alderney.

  Real Brass!

The Alderney Blowers – the island’s adopted brass band whose musicians come from all parts of the UK to join up for Alderney Week. And it’s not until they land in Alderney that they all play together. Music for your ears!

They kick off every Alderney Week   with the a very special performance  at the Alderney Week Church Service on the first Sunday, and on Cavalcade Day they lead the parade and entertain thousands on The Butes. They delight the audience with their musical extravaganza  at the Wednesday Gala Night show, and their big concert is Thursday night in St. Anne’s Church.  Alderney is very lucky to have them and Alderney Week without the Alderney Blowers would be hard to imagine. Back in the UK many of them play in the Redridge Brass – of television fame. Redbridge Brass, The Champion Band of London & Southern Counties (4 years running), has been placed 7th at "The Nationals" held on 15th October 2005 at The Royal Albert Hall!!     The Island Band

….Alderney’s very own little brass and wood band whose conductor is Sue Cooper. They played at the Sunday Street market and of course, they play in Alderney throughout the year at different occasions.

 Blooze Crewz

Yes – that’s how Alderney’s very own fab new R&B band spells its name. They were performing on the first night (Saturday 4) at the Butes and at the Battle of the Bands.

The Rain or Shine Theatre Company

  Bring on the dancing girls!

They are the ever popular Alderney Kfa (Keep Fit Association) troopers of graceful movers and dancers, known as the Pommerettes, the Kfa Sunbeams and the Kfa Teen Team.

The Kfa was formed by Angela Stanley in 1998 and now boasts eighty-five members ranging from age 4 to 16 both girls and boys.

The  group had its first Alderney Week performance in 1998.They were such a success and the crowds loved them. The Kfa have been a huge part of Alderney Week ever since, their routines getting more complicated and advanced every year and always reflect that year’s Alderney Week theme.

The Kfa have a very busy week starting with the opening of Alderney Week through to the Torchlight Processing covering events like: The Street Parade, Street Market, Cavalcade Day and the Gala-Night to name but a few.   To find out more about the Alderney Kfa, click here
